A Place Set Apart

Summer 2018 Schedule

We are excited to announce that the 2018 Summer Schedule is now up!  We have new opportunities available in 2018 which include Adventure Camp and a week of Elementary and Junior High camp that runs Sunday to Friday.

Registration is now open!  You do not want to miss out on the exciting opportunities that await you at Camp Tanako.

Adventure Camp Spots Still Available

We still have Adventure Camp spots available for females going into 7th-9th grades.  You do not want your camper to miss out on their favorite camp activities while also getting to do an overnight canoe trip. They will be immersed in God’s creation and a strong faith community, and return home with a sense of spiritual renewal and empowerment. For more information, check out our Adventure Camp page.

Ropes Course

Horseback Riding

Outpost Tanako

For children and youth during the summer, Camp Tanako offers a classic camp experience as a tool for growing faith in young people. Kayak, canoe, sing, swim, worship, cook out, hike, and experience the challenge course all while learning about God’s love for us. For older campers, we offer horseback riding, zip lining, and exciting opportunities to travel off-site to experience more amazing wilderness areas in Arkansas. Programs are designed to provide unique experiences, new for many campers. This is accomplished through small group living, where eight to 12 young people are paired with two counselors for the week, making age-appropriate decisions together about their activities for the week.

+ General Info

The American Camp Association is a community of camp professionals who, for over 100 years, have joined together to share our knowledge and experience and to ensure the quality of camp programs.

We want campers to venture out of their comfort zones and learn new skills. With plenty of adult support from counselors and other staff along the way, our hope is that campers will begin or continue to express their individuality.

Camp Tanako strives to provide safe and supportive opportunities for children and youth to further explore the world, and themselves as part of a “mini monastic” community environment, to intentionally expand boundaries.

Camp Tanako, located near Hot Springs on beautiful Lake Catherine, has been a tradition of the United Methodist Church in Arkansas since 1948, and we hope for the opportunity to serve you.  Our mission here at Camp Tanako is to welcome children, youth, and adults to a place set apart where they can grow in their faith by experiencing God through nature and time spent in community and respond to the call of the Holy Spirit.  Christian camps are uniquely capable of impacting lives for Christ.  Whether you come as a guest on a retreat or come for a session of summer camp, this is a place where you can release your burdens, find Christ’s peace, and rest.
